April/May 2011 Edition

Welcome to the May 1, 2011 edition of Personal Experiences in Travel. Due to technical difficulties (I know, this sounds so cliche), I was not able to get the April edition up. As a result, this will be a joint edition featuring posts for April/May. Happy Reading :)

Robin presents What to pack when staying in a Villa posted at Location Villa Espagne, saying, "As you may already know, staying in a Villa is much different than staying in a hotel. For one thing, most Villas are outfitted like your home and you will most likely have access to a washing machine and dryer. This will help cut down the amount of luggage you bring with you, because if you are like me, you always pack too much."
Zhu presents Kuala Lumpur | Correr Es Mi Destino posted at Correr Es Mi Destino Hotel, saying, "Kuala Lumpur is a pedestrian’s nightmare. The city is sliced by freeways on the ground and the train/LRT above ground. There seems to be a construction site at every corner. Crossing the street is best done with both eyes closed and a prayer book in hand, as you try to dodge trucks, cars, irate taxi drivers and motorbikes. The pedestrian green light, a flashing animated little stick figure that runs, sums it all up: run like hell."
Stephfret presents Tahiti, Part 1 posted at Buttermilk Party Cake, saying, "Culinary revelations in Tahiti".
Lady on a Roof presents Spring is Here... Callaway Gardens posted at Lady on a Roof, saying, "Before heading out to Alabama, a group of us got together and stopped over in Columbus, Georgia".

March 2011 Edition

Welcome to the March 1, 2011 edition of Personal Experiences in Travel. For this edition, I have received two types submissions. One type were articles with steps and advice on travel. The other is based on people who are at moment traveling and the experiences they are having in the time abroad.  Happy Reading!

Advice on Travel

Phil Byrne presents Spring Destinations Across Europe in 2011 | Cheap Hotel Chains - Guide To Great Places posted at Cheap Hotel Chains - Guide to Great Places.

Elizabeth Wright presents It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year! The Top 25 Spring Break Hot Spots in the U.S posted at Education Degrees.

Tricia Adams presents Little Known Facts About Big Island posted at PhD Programs.

Money Crashers Blog presents Mardi Gras in New Orleans: Tourist Tips for Hotels, Food & Parades posted at Money Crashers, saying, "Mardi Gras in New Orleans deserves its status as the “largest party in the United States.” With its lavish parades, masked balls, and late-night parties, it’s an unforgettable experience for anyone who visits. But when the good times roll, especially with free-flowing alcohol and great dining, you’ll find yourself loosening your purse strings or opening your wallet more quickly than you expected. If you want to enjoy Mardi Gras on the cheap and leave New Orleans with a dollar or two left in your pocket, you need a game plan."

Personal Experiences on Travel

Erica and Cassi presents

Madeleine Begun Kane presents

Byteful Travel presents What is the Most Incredible Aspect of Seattle's Space Needle? (A Photo Essay) posted at Byteful Travel, saying, "How often does a piece of architecture transport you across time? As you’ll soon see, its futuristic shape towers above the Seattle in stark contrast to its surrounding environment. The Space Needle’s striking design has led it to world fame. Yet it will surprise you to learn that the most incredible aspect of the Space Needle isn’t its height, nor is it the fact that the tower can withstand winds up of up to 320 km/h, nor is it the “shocking” fact that it has 25 lightning rods atop its saucer section. It's something you have to dig a bit to find out. (Photo Essay included)"

Steve Chasey presents Vidyanikethan posted atS&S Travel the Long Way Round, saying, "My wife and I are in the middle of a five month world trip and are blogging from the road. Hope you enjoy this account of the week we spent volunteering at a school for children from the slum's in India."
